What’s your firm’s risk if your employees drive personal vehicles on company time?

What’s the risk to your firm when your employees drive their personal vehicles for job-related duties? National SDA hosted a webinar presented by Daniel Brown and Oscar Goedecke of Travelers Indemnity Company. They offered risk management strategies:

  1. Identify all potential drivers, and review employee’s motor vehicle record (MVR) annually, at a minimum. Verify their license status.
  2. Investigate all violations and accidents. Establish MVR standards; create an MVR evaluation guide.
  3. Provide driver orientation (instructions, directions, policies, performance standards).
  4. Provide driver safety training and document that your employees were trained.
  5. Consistently enforce your driving policies.
  6. Ensure appropriate insurance coverage.
