OWN THE ROOM: Don’t Let Public Speaking Hold You Back!

January 19, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Does the fear of giving a speech in public seem about as much fun as being a cat covered in gravy in a barn full of bloodhounds? You’re not alone. Seventy-five percent of people report some anxiety about public speaking. It can range from a shaky voice and sweaty palms to paralyzing fear and panic.

Carla Thompson, FSMPS, CPSM, will share her journey and real life tips and tricks in overcoming her own fear of public speaking. She’ll teach us how to control our nerves so we can get up and speak in public with confidence, whether it’s at a staff meeting or in front of a large audience. In Carla’s words, “If I can do it, you can do it.”

Carla Thompson, FSMPS, CPSM is the Chief Marketing Officer for NAC Architecture, a highly-respected educational architecture firm with offices in Seattle, Spokane and Los Angeles. She has over 100 seminars, workshops, and presentations to her credit—including a program titled “Marketing is Everybody’s Business” for our 2016 BusinessTRAK workshop. She is the founder of the popular SMPS Fellows Forum program currently in its seventh year, and co-founder of the AEC Marketing 101 and 201 seminar series that has graduated more than 1,000 marketers, project managers and principals. Carla has delivered educational programs and presentations to SMPS, SDA, AIA, AGC, ACEC, NEBC, and she has been retained by such well-known business consulting firms as Zweig and the Coxe Group. Carla was named a Fellow in the Society for Marketing Professional Services in 1999, and she’s served three terms on the National Board of Directors.

No shows and cancellations after 12:00pm (PST) on January 12 will not be refunded.
