Walking Tour: Chinatown/International District

August 16, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Seattle chapter members, here is another free, educational event for you! Please know, though, that we need to keep this a small-size event, so (sorry!) we have to limit attendees to 15 (chapter members only).

We’re skipping our usual dinner this month and instead will focus on some historical insight.

Our tour guide, David Peterson, will walk and talk us through original and later Chinatown, Japantown (Nihonmachi), who lived there and why; weird immigration laws, and the architecture.

Meet-up location: Occidental Park, located on Occidental Ave S between S Washington St and S Main St in the Pioneer Square district.

Meet-up time: 5:30 PM

Wear comfy shoes and plan on one hour for the tour (and maybe we can stop for a beverage somewhere afterwards).

The walking tour will finish around 8th and King at the Wing Luke Museum.

David Peterson is a historic resource consultant who has lived in Seattle since 1991. He attended the University of Washington, earning his M. Arch. and Historic Preservation Studies certificate in 1995.
