Technical Architecture – if you’re confused about IT and cybersecurity…
February 16, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Some folks working as administrators were assigned basic IT tasks like password resets, purchasing software, resetting servers, and other configuration changes to employees or network settings. At some point, we started asking questions such as, “What’s the purpose of this? What if we did this instead?” We may have acquired some basic “IT analyst” skills, but oftentimes need the services of IT experts. This business practice event will help if you’re new to tackling basic IT tasks, or if you’re looking for best practices to implement at your own office. We’re bringing the experts to you! Join us on Feb. 16 to spend an hour learning about:
- WIFI employee networks, spam email blockers and how to identify spam, sending zip files, and 2-factor authentication
- Recommendations – options ranging from satellite to dedicated fiber and everything in between, safe password apps, home office (routers, webcams, servers), Network Power Switch
- Cybersecurity, and the types of threats you should be worried about
- Understanding WIFI, and how to choose the right WIFI router for your home
- When you should bring IT in-house vs. outsourcing
This Business Practice Event is being hosted online via Zoom; attendance is $15 for SDA members (regardless of Chapter affiliation) and $20 for non-members. Earns 1 CEU for Office Administration. The presentation will be recorded, and available for registrants to re-watch at a later date. No-shows and cancelations after Feb. 15 will not be refunded. Registration closes at noon (Pacific) on Feb. 15.

As Managing Principal, Tony defines company direction and strategy as well working with Mike to manage operations and still actively consulting. In addition to 20 years of valuable IT experience and a BA (Honors) Degree in Computing & Information Systems, Tony also possesses a British accent, so you know you can trust him as soon as he speaks. He’s held leadership roles in IT consulting, cloud services delivery, and prior to joining EXP, he served as Director of IT at a national healthcare company. And as impressive as that is, it sounds even better when he says it. Tony is passionate about building the systems and processes that enable and empower our EXPerts to deliver impeccable service to our clients. He’s also a Certified Scrum Master, which, shockingly, has nothing to do with rugby.
As director of sales and marketing, Kelly participates in the first meaningful conversations prospective clients have with EXP. Kelly sometimes says, “I employ unconventional methods to produce extraordinary results,” but don’t let the flowery language fool you. Those of us who have observed him in action know that his “unconventional” method is simple: he listens more than he speaks. Prior to working at EXP, Kelly had three decades of success in technology sales and sales leadership roles. He has gone on the trips, won the giant flatscreen TVs, and he has a bookshelf full of pointy glass awards to commemorate it! His experience includes many years selling engineering software (Computational Fluid Dynamics, Data Visualization) to NASA, government labs, Fortune 1000 corporations, and universities. For the past decade and a half Kelly has connected hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses across the Puget Sound Region to outsourced IT support. He holds a BS in Accounting from University of Arizona and has been through more sales and marketing training programs than he cares to admit.
