How to Help Without Micromanaging

May 16 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Hybrid Hybrid Event
$15.00 – $70.00

“Micromanagement” is a dirty word in today’s workplaces. Bosses who intervene too often or too extensively in their subordinates’ activities get a bad reputation, and most forward-thinking organizations have come to value employee autonomy more than oversight.  Managers are valuable members of a team who lead with different styles – but when they become too involved in their team members’ work, they micromanage them rather than provide guidance.

In this session, you’ll see why, now more than ever, why ending micromanaging is a crucial skill to thrive in your career. Jess Hickey is BACK and in-person to cover what micromanagement is and why people micromanage, plus how to respond to a micromanager at work.

Key takeaways:

  1. Define management, leadership and micromanagement
  2. What does micromanagement feel like?
  3. Reasons for micromanagement
  4. The line between micromanagement and discrimination/harassment
  5. How to react to micromanagement?
  6. Workshop/role play for practice?
