Along with the installation of our new board of directors for 2016-2017, we are holding a roundtable discussion focusing on career development. We are excited to have Janet Bucholdt (from Minneapolis) join us for this event. Janet will lead the discussion on:

• Roles of Administrators
• Development of Passions
• Development of Positions
• Learning Venues
• Mentoring Process

Please join us to share your career development experiences. As an added bonus, you’ll leave with example career development practices that other firms are using. A buffet-style dinner, catered by Metropolitan Market, is included.

After the one-hour roundtable, the chapter will hold its business meeting, followed by the Board of Directors’ Installation. We’ll wrap up the evening with the incoming chapter president’s speech. Everyone is welcome to stay for the installation ceremony.

We asked our SDA colleague Janet Bucholdt to lead this session, because we knew she would be an ideal person to speak about career development for administrative staff. She has managed Cuningham Group Architecture’s administrative team since 2007. Her purpose in continuing to grow the administrative team with the tools that will assist them in developing their professional careers is steadfast. Her passion for sharing her over 30-years A/E design firm knowledge with other administrators is extreme, and she demonstrates that undivided passion in more ways than one. For example, she developed monthly Administrative Professional Development sessions for her administrators, which provide opportunities for the administrators to grow their leadership and presentation skills. As a member of SDA, Janet knows the value of attending SDA events and she readily encourages and supports Cuningham’s administrative team’s attendance at SDA’s local and national events. Janet has been a member of SDA since 1983, and served on the board of directors of the Honolulu (president, 1984 and 1985) and Minneapolis (president, 1997, 2010, and 2011) chapters. She also served as the National SDA secretary in 2005. Since joining SDA, Janet has attended 17 National Conventions, three Leadership Conferences, and one Regional Conference.
