BusinessTRAK™ Workshop

We’re bringing this popular workshop to Seattle, and trust us—you won’t want to miss this! According to recent college graduates, project and A/E firm financial management are the #1 topics missing from architecture and engineering curriculums. The track to understanding project and design firm financial management is here for you. After attending this, you’ll be on the road to understanding the business skills you need to advance your career.

Workshop Agenda:

  • 10:45am to 12:15pm: Project Management—From a Business Perspective

  • 2:30pm to 2:45pm: Break
  • 2:45pm to 4:45pm: Practice Management Business Overview
  • 4:45pm to 5:00pm: Final Wrap-up

Who should attend? All are welcome, of course. It’s especially relevant to: Students in the architecture, engineering and related fields. Emerging professionals who want an overall lesson in what it takes to run a successful design firm. Design firm administrators who are looking for a greater understanding of the design firm practice.

Presenters:

Carla Thompson, FSMPS, CPSM is the Chief Marketing Officer for NAC Architecture with offices in Seattle and Spokane, Washington, and Los Angeles. She is responsible for setting marketing and sales strategies, fostering employee engagement, and elevating brand awareness for the firm. She leads a dedicated group of nine senior marketing professionals focused on identifying and securing new projects and positioning the firm in its key markets. Carla was named a Fellow in the Society for Marketing Professional Services in 1999, and she’s enjoying her third term on the National Board of Directors.

Stephanie Kirschner, CDFA, is the Executive Director for the Society for Design Administration. Prior to becoming the SDA National Executive Director in 2012, Stephanie held the position of Vice President of Finance for a multi-discipline design firm in southwest Ohio for 20+ years. As a partner in the firm, her areas of expertise include Finance, Human Resources, Business Contingency Planning and Corporate Strategies.

Earn continuing education credits. SDA is an AIA Registered Provider.
