Beyond Ergonomics: Moving From Wellness to Well-being
February 23, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
This one’s free! We’re going to Knoll’s for a presentation that speaks to holistic ergonomics, and to take a tour of their workstation vignettes in their showroom (are you interested in sit-to-stand desks?).
Due to looming talent shortages and increased healthcare costs, organizations are concentrating efforts to ensure the sustainability of their most important asset: their people. Unlike other business assets—buildings, technology, investments—people have a choice about where they work, how much they give to their job, and how they impact the people around them. In a knowledge economy, the skills, knowledge, creativity, and connections of its people are an organization’s primary, and oftentimes only, performing assets.
Research shows that happy, healthy, and engaged employees produce more and cost less. Your firm’s workplaces, work processes, and work practices comprise an ecosystem that has the potential to enhance employee well-being and thus, organizational performance.
At this session, you’ll learn:
- The history of wellness and the move to well-being
- The indirect and direct costs of poor health and well-being
- The top 4 global drivers of well-being initiatives
- The workplace strategies that address employees’ physical, emotional, and social well-being
