Better Business Book Club – Quarter 3
September 12, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Shout out to Karen Lollis (Studio Administrator at MG2) for facilitating this quarter’s Better Business Book Club!
We created the Better Business Book Club to provide opportunities for peer to peer interaction, professional development, and even a little fun. Each quarter, we read a business book selected from those suggested by our members. Then we meet (virtually or in-person) over lunch in a facilitated round-table format to discuss what we’ve read and how to apply it to our professional lives. Not only do we benefit from the content, but we build and reinforce our SDA relationships.
This quarter we’re reading “Grow Wherever You Work: Straight Talk to Help with Your Toughest Challenges,” by Joanna Barsh. The book underscores five themes:
- Preparation is half the game
- Asking questions will help you
- Talking is a good thing
- Intentionality is the Do Not Pass Go Until You Do This step
- Taking small steps frees you to act
We’ll meet virtually on September 12 to discuss the book (any read-ahead materials will be sent to registered attendees prior to the event). Other than the cost of the book – buy it here, or hit the library for a zero dollar option – there is no cost to participate, and we anticipate that attendees will earn one CEU from SDA.
Happy reading!
Registration closes 6:00 AM (Pacific) on September 12.
